Dear Children, Parents & Carers,

I was very excited for Ms Walker and I to take the KS2 prefects and ambassadors to the Houses of
Parliament on Tuesday. The Houses of Parliament have nearly a thousand years of history, transforming over time from royal residence to the home of modern democracy.

We were invited by our local MP Mr John Cryer to take a tour of this historical building and saw for ourselves where important and powerful decisions are made.

I hope that this has inspired our children and that we may now have some budding future MPs and prime ministers in our midst!

Year 1 visited a local mosque this week as part of their religious education studies. They were fascinated to see an Islamic place of worship and were interested to learn about salah (prayer) and ways to give thanks to God.

The London 2012 games are fast approaching and the city will inevitably be a lot busier than usual.
A new ‘Get Ahead of The Games’ website has been launched, to help you to avoid travel hotspots
when travelling around. For more information please visit GetAheadoftheGames.com

Next week we are having our Valentines Afternoon Tea and Bake Sale on Thursday 9th February from 3.15pm to 4.15pm. Please can you make any donations of sweet and savoury items on the day, this would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to remind all parent/carers that I am available to speak to every Thursday in the Parents Room for coffee morning. If you have anything you would like to discuss or share with me please come along. If however it is something of a personal nature I would advise you to see the school office to arrange an appointment to see me.

School will be closed for half term from Monday 13th - Friday 17th February. Children are back to school Monday 20th February.

Kind regards,

Prue Barnes, Headteacher 03.02.2012
