Dear Children, Parents & Carers,

As half term fast approaches I am very pleased to see how well the children have settled into the new term. Newport is currently in the top 4% of all schools nationally for progress, this is fantastic news and I look forward to the school continuing to maintain these standards.

I have been very impressed to see the children’s enthusiasm for lunchtime and after school clubs, however we would like to ask that all parents please pay as soon as possible for these clubs as they are in high demand.

We have been translating the consultation documents relating to the permanent expansion of Newport to a four form entry school into various languages, we now also have them available in Polish,Romanian, Punjabi and Bengali. These are available to pick up from the school office and to read on Newport’s website here.

Next month romance will be in the air for Valentine’s day, to celebrate this we would like to invite you all to our Valentines Afternoon Tea and Bake Sale on Thursday 9th February from 3.15pm to 4.15pm. We would appreciate any donations, on the day, of sweet or savoury delights to help make this a successful event.

It has been a successful week for FAST (Families And Schools Together) with lots of families showing a keen interest in this exciting programme. We still have a few places left. If you are interested in joining or have already been invited to join please see Eva or Saira in the school office to complete the necessary forms.

A reminder to all parents that Friday 3rd February 2012 will be a school INSET DAY. Please make sure youhave made provisions for your child’s care on this day as school will be closed for all children.

Kind regards,

Prue Barnes, Headteacher 27.01.2012
